Jayson Boebert reported payments of nearly $ 1 million over two years

US MP Lauren Boebert’s name appears on business documents filed with the state for her husband’s oil and gas consultancy firm Boebert Consulting, which has been raised about 1 million in the past two years by a drilling company with a large presence over the past two years The western slope paid US dollars.

The Garfield County Republican is the registered agent of JLB903 LLC, which in turn is the registered agent of Boebert Consulting, run by her husband Jayson, according to records verified by The Colorado Sun, as well as information from Boebert’s office and a financial institution that the disclosure made Congressman submitted this week.

The reveal raises additional questions about the Boeberts’ finances and their close ties to the oil and gas industry, which have been under increasing scrutiny by opponents in recent days. The Congresswoman’s office said she doesn’t work for Boebert Consulting but didn’t reply if she owns the company.

Boebert, who sits on the House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee, was a key cheerleader in the oil and gas industry and often quoted her husband’s work.

“My husband works in the natural gas industry,” she told Colorado Public Radio last year. “He’s drilling for natural gas. He’s had this for 17 years and I know he usually works elsewhere when our industry is doing badly here. That puts a lot of strain on the family and there are many families who have not recovered from it. “

Texas-based Terra Energy Partners boasts on its website that it is the largest operator in the Piceance Basin, which stretches from western Colorado to Utah.

Terra bought Ursa Resources, another oil and gas company, in December for $ 60 million. Ursa had a large presence in western Colorado, and its story includes a controversial attempt to drill wells in the Battlement Mesa parish between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction, near where the Boeberts live just outside of Silt.

Lauren Boebert’s financial disclosure reported that Jayson Boebert was paid $ 478,386 for “consulting services” from Terra Energy Partners in 2020 – incorrectly identified in the disclosure as Terra Energy Production – and in 2019 for $ 460,601 for “consulting services”. Boebert Consulting wasn’t listed in the document, but Ben Stout, a Boebert spokesman, said the consulting firm was paid for Jayson’s work.

Boebert Consulting appeared in Congressman’s 2020 financial disclosure with “NA” – not applicable – in the 2018 and 2019 income report fields.

Stout said Jayson is “not an employee of Terra Energy” but has been providing contract drilling services to Terra since 2017. That was years before Boebert announced her candidacy for Congress.

The company confirmed his professional career.

“Mr. Boebert has been providing Terra with contract drilling services as an on-site drill foreman since 2017,” said Suzanne Smith, Terra Energy’s HR director, in a written statement to the Sun.

An April 2020 business filing for Boebert Consulting LLC, the latest filing filed with the U.S. Department of State’s Colorado office, changed the registered agent for the consulting firm from Jayson Boebert to a different business entity, JLB903 LLC. Founded in 2018, this company lists Lauren Boebert as a registered agent.

Jayson Boebert last acted as Boebert Consulting’s registered agent in December 2018, according to documents filed with the Colorado Secretary of State Office.

The Foreign Minister requires companies to have a registered agent, an official point of contact who can receive legal documents for a company. The agent may or may not be the owner or officer of the company.

Both Boebert Consulting LLC, founded in 2012, and JLB903 LLC are both delinquent by the Colorado Secretary of State, meaning they missed the deadlines for filing updated documents.

JLB903 also appears to be associated with Top Gun Catering, Shooters Gear, and Shooters Grill, the Boeberts’ famous restaurant in Rifle.

In fact, Lauren Boebert was not required to disclose her husband’s exact income under the disclosure rules. None of the other members of the US House of Representatives with working spouses did so.

Her financial disclosure was filed Tuesday after the Sun contacted her office about a missed August 13 deadline.

Boebert also reported operating losses for its Shooters Grill restaurant of $ 143,233 in 2019 and $ 226,234 in 2020.

Other findings from Boebert’s disclosure are:

• A home mortgage secured in 2018 between $ 250,001 and $ 500,000

• A checking account with a balance between $ 1,001 and $ 15,000

No shares or other bank accounts were reported in the disclosure.
