Advertising company welcomes rising staff to new East Yorkshire base

Marketing agency welcomes growing team to new East Yorkshire base

A long-established marketing agency has opened a new chapter in the company’s 40-year history and has moved into its first tailor-made office space.

Sowden + Sowden has a coach house and a stable from the 19th century.

Located on the Weir in the heart of Hessle, East Yorkshire, the 3,023 m² site now houses large open-plan office space, a private work area, large meeting room and kitchen extension, as well as a living room, sundeck and expansive courtyard for socializing and outdoor work.

The cultural heritage has also been respected while maintaining important historical features.

Paul and Polly Sowden, the father-daughter director duo behind Sowden + Sowden, hope that the new office will provide their team with the perfect place to further develop award-winning marketing.

Polly said, “We are very proud of what we have created for our team here. After 18 months of working separately, it was transformative to bring everyone together for the first time in our incredible new home – including some colleagues who haven’t had the chance to work together under one roof! It’s really refreshing to be able to work side by side collaboratively again. And what a space to do it.

“It took a long time and we are very happy to be able to work in a place that embodies our culture, crosses borders and does things differently. Now we can’t wait to show it to all of our customers. “

The renovation was designed by another local family business, AEB Architecture and Design Ltd, with the property being purchased by PPH Commercial.

The building offers potential for future growth as Sowdens prepares to hire new talent after acquiring some key new national and international clients.

The agency welcomed several new team members over the past year to expand its diverse marketing offering. This includes two new designers, a copywriter and a production and print manager, and a digital account director to add search engine optimization, user experience and e-commerce site development to their digital marketing services.

Paul said, “Our new office was designed from the ground up to meet our needs as a company. That means we now have the perfect building to create outstanding marketing for our customers across the UK and around the world.

“The building combines the perfect mix of historical architecture and modern design and is a really unique and suitable basis for us to honor the last 40 years of our journey as an agency and at the same time look to the future. We are very happy to welcome our team to a place that we can really call our own. “
