LEGO Group expands partnership and commitment to Singapore

The LEGO Group will continue to invest in the localization and development of key digital and creative teams in its Singapore hub, which opened in 2013

That LEGO Group announced a new partnership with the Singapore government’s Economic Development Board, signaling its continued commitment to Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region. Under the agreement, the company will continue to invest in the localization and development of key digital and creative teams at its Singapore hub, which opened in 2013.

The LEGO Group’s Singapore hub is the company’s Asia-Pacific headquarters and currently employs over 400 highly qualified people. Singapore has played a vital role in the company’s growth in the region and the new partnership will help it further realize its vision of bringing the power of playful learning to many more children.

Eric Maugein, Regional President for Asia Pacific, LEGO Group, said, “We continue to see enormous potential in Singapore and its role as a hub for talent and innovation on the development board. Our goal is to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow, and since more than half of the world’s children live in the Asia-Pacific region, this provides us with an excellent basis for enabling more families to have fun learning experiences. “

Ms. Fong Pin Fen, Vice President and Head, Consumer Accounts Group, EDB added, “The LEGO Group’s decision to add new digital and creative opportunities to its Asia Pacific headquarters is a testament to Singapore’s leading role as an innovation hub for consumer businesses. EDB is proud to partner with the LEGO Group to invent the future of the game in Singapore while creating exciting employment opportunities for Singaporeans. “

The LEGO Group’s Singapore Hub employees represent a number of key strategic functions and it is the regional base for the Creative Play Lab, the company’s product innovation team responsible for creating the future of play.

Pia Færløv Andersson, Head of Innovation at Creative Play Lab, commented: “Our team is well established in Singapore and we benefit greatly from having access to some of the most creative and innovative thinkers in the world. It’s exciting to work closely together and generate new ideas that will inspire future generations. “

The Singapore Hub also helps the LEGO Group fulfill its commitment to children in need through playful learning programs. The group’s social impact programs span 28 different countries, including six in the Asia-Pacific region – Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, India and Singapore.

In Singapore, partnerships with KidSTART Singapore and Beyond Social Services support early childhood education for children from low income families, and the LEGO Group also works with MINDS to teach children emotions and careers through inclusive play. These programs benefit almost 2,000 children and 100 caregivers directly, and a further 2,520 children receive product donations.

During the Covid pandemic, the company donated LEGO products to more than 10,000 health worker children and more than 83,000 primary 1 and 2 students in Ministry of Education public schools.
