Schneider Electric expands sustainability consulting portfolio

Energy company Schneider Electric has expanded its range of sustainability advisory services in the Middle East as the company commences operations to meet growing demand for energy transition expertise and support.

The French multinational – a € 27.2 billion company – supports companies worldwide in all facets of their energy value chain, from engineering and consulting to technology, solutions and cloud integration.

In response to booming demand from governments hungry to move from oil and gas to greener options, Schneider Electric has launched a new offering of sustainability and decarbonization advisory services to government agencies and public-private partnerships in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council ( GCC) launched.

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia announced its Green Initiative, a comprehensive plan designed to help the country become “a global leader in creating a greener world.” This included generating 50% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030 and developing more environmentally friendly industries.

The UAE has now set up its works to diversify its income resources by turning away from oil as part of its Vision 2021 strategy. Qatar has built sustainability into its national development plan and is keen to make progress before the world turns Qatar on for the 2022 World Cup.

Schneider Electric’s proposal is also aimed at private sector companies whose CEOs are facing “increasing public concern and pressure from stakeholders over climate change,” and as a result, sustainability is now “a top corporate priority,” said Capucine Dourdin Jeunet, Head of Sustainability in the Middle East and Africa.

The new proposals include: identification of energy efficiency savings, climate protection programs, external procurement of renewable energies, advice on electromobility and optimization of the supply chain and logistics.

“Our new offerings will help our customers ensure they are on the right track, reducing their environmental footprint, lowering resource costs and focusing on achieving a net zero carbon pathway across their operations “, Explained Dourdin Jeunet.

The news comes shortly after Schneider Electric added an offer to its sustainability business in America. The new communication service supports customers with their marketing, communication and reputation requirements in order to meet the information and transparency needs of investors, employees and interest groups.
