BDO expands Dutch administration consultancy wing with ProExc

BDO expands Dutch management consultancy with ProExc

BDO has taken over the Dutch boutique consultancy ProExc, adding a team of around fifteen consultants to its BDO Advisory department in the Netherlands.

René Nelis, Chief Executive Officer of BDO in the Netherlands, commented on the transaction: “The takeover is in line with our strategic goal of strengthening BDO Advisory in various market segments. With the introduction of ProExc we can deepen our skills and enable us to serve our customers even better. “

Founded in 2008, ProExc is a boutique consultancy specializing in developing and implementing process improvement initiatives. To deliver on its promise, the company uses its own proprietary methodology (known as “ProcessExcellence Methodology”), which provides a framework to help customers achieve productivity, effectiveness and efficiency benefits in their business processes.

The company (based in Laren, a city between the capital Amsterdam and Utrecht) mainly focuses on the mid-market segment with customers from the professional services, (wholesale) trade, construction and installation, manufacturing and healthcare sectors. Names that shine on the company’s customer list include Aegon, Dijklander Hospital, Mammoet, Ricoh, Spie, TenCate, Van Lanschot and Xella.

“The knowledge and background of the ProExc employees are diverse and complement the expertise in our management consulting practice,” said Nelis.

As part of the deal, the founders of ProExc – Maarten Habermehl and Bart van Essen (they have been appointed partners at BDO Advisory) – as well as all consultants and employees are moving to the global accounting and consulting giant. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“BDO suits us culturally well and has the financial strength and skills to drive growth. In addition, the concentration of forces has a strongly complementary character. This enables us to offer a broader range of services to a broader group of customers, ”said Habermehl and Van Essen.

For BDO, the transaction is the first in the Netherlands since the takeover of the health specialist Arteria Consulting in 2019.
