Tech Mahindra buys brainscale cloud consultancy

Tech Mahindra, an India-based IT consulting firm, has acquired Brainscale, a cloud consulting firm based in Princeton, New Jersey.

Brainscale was founded in 2007 and offers cloud enablement, migration, analytics and managed services with special expertise in Microsoft Azure. The company works with small and medium-sized companies as well as Fortune 500 companies from various industries.

Brainscale is a Microsoft Gold Partner for cloud platform, application development and data analysis. The company is also a Google Cloud Partner and AWS Consulting Partner.

Brainscale employs 120 people in its Princeton offices; Toronto Canada; and Pune and Bengaluru, India. The company had sales of $ 10 million in 2020.Tech Mahindra acquired the company for $ 28.8 million in cash, including earnouts, according to a government filing dated June 26. The transaction is expected to close on August 15, 2021.

“The acquisition will strengthen Tech Mahindra’s cloud transformation consulting capabilities and enable Tech Mahindra to drive the growth of cloud-related IT services in the North American market,” the filing states.

The pandemic has spurred many companies to accelerate their digitization, with the key areas being cloud and cybersecurity. This has increased the demand for advice in the fields, and well-funded consultancies are relying on specialist firms to expand their skills. Competing technology consultancy Accenture went so far as to pour $ 3 billion into its cloud division over the next three years.

Tech Mahindra acquired DigitalOnUS earlier this year, a San Jose-based company that specializes in hybrid cloud and DevOps services. The $ 120 million transaction added 380 employees in offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and India.

Tech Mahindra is based in Pune and employs around 125,000 people in 90 countries. The company offers a wide range of IT and business process outsourcing services and has annual sales of $ 5.2 billion.
