New alternative for UK jewelry companies to realize B Corp standing

New opportunity for UK jewellery businesses to achieve B Corp status

Victoria Waugh from jewelry consultancy V&V has been awarded B-Leader status, which enables her to lead companies through the process to B-Corporation.

B Corp status means that a company weighs purpose and profit and is legally required to consider the impact of its decisions on employees, customers, suppliers, the community and the environment.

Waugh’s appointment as a B Leader opens up a new way for British jewelry companies to achieve B Corp status.

The co-founder of jewelry consultancy V&V said, “The B Corp Assessment is a fantastic tool to help jewelers improve the overall sustainability of their business.

“I am proud to have achieved the coveted B-Leader status and to be able to officially support jewelry brands with certification.

“B Corp goes a step further than existing jewelry-specific certification systems by providing companies with a free, comprehensive framework to self-assess and encourage continuous improvement over time.

“Everything from better governance and procurement to improved customer relationships, charitable giving and community involvement.”

UK jewelry brands that have already received certification include EC One, Yala Jewelery and Fenton based in London.

Shakti Ellenwood, owner of Shakti Ellenwood Precious Jewelery, recently went through B Corp’s assessment to analyze their brand’s ethical credentials.

She said, “The tool has been invaluable in identifying areas of my business that should be improved.

“It was also comforting to see how much I’ve done well and to be rewarded for it!

“With the support of V&V in completing the application process and taking steps to improve my score, I am now ready for certification.”
