L.Pentest People, a local cybersecurity consultancy, has announced its expansion plans after a record year of business growth with sales up 60%.

Companies hire Pentest People’s cybersecurity experts to test their websites, applications, and IT systems for vulnerabilities that could allow cybercriminals to steal information, damage IT systems, or save data as a ransom.

Co-founder Andrew Mason attributes the company’s rapid growth to innovative solutions from its highly skilled security consultants, including the introduction of SecureGateway, a device designed and released at the beginning of lockdown that allows penetration testers to continue internal testing of customer systems while all worked from home.

The development of SecureGateway resulted in Pentest People being named to Leeds’ Top 100 Most Resilient Companies Using Digital Technologies in the Most Innovative and Transformative Ways, and the company was nominated for three awards at the Digital City Awards 2021.

To help customers continuously improve their security precautions, Pentest People launched its Dark Web Monitoring service in February, which allows customers to proactively check for mentions of their brand, URLs or IP addresses in underground online marketplaces where cyber criminals are located often advertise stolen advertising data. This new service was quickly followed by the launch of the Pentest People Red Team Assessment Service in March, which companies can use to test their ability to fully withstand a targeted cyber attack.

Pentest People was not only able to retain existing customers, but also to open up new business areas and increase the number of employees during the pandemic. A number of CHECK team leaders have been hired who have penetration testing skills and experience approved by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), which has received additional public sector engagements for the company. Under the direction of technical director Gavin Watson and sales director Anthony Harvey, Pentest People has grown to over seventy employees within three years. Ten new employees have been added since the beginning of 2021. The company has also hired a number of trainees from the local area.

To do justice to the growing team, Pentest People moved into the largest office in the Round Foundry Media Center in Leeds in early March.

Commenting on the company’s rapid growth and expansion plans, Andrew Mason, Co-Founder: “Anthony, Gavin and the team have done a fantastic job growing the business over an exceptionally challenging year. We are very keen to reinvest in the growth of Pentest People and plan to open additional offices in London and Cheltenham over the next twelve months, which are the focus of cyber security efforts in the UK. We’re adding new services to meet customer needs, hiring new CHECK team leaders, and hiring cybersecurity trainees so we can develop their skills and provide them with solid work experience and expertise. ”
