Optimus SBR acquires knowledge consultancy Unilytics

Optimus SBR takes over data consulting Unilytics

Optimus SBR, a Toronto-based management consultancy, has acquired Unilytics, a Toronto-based consulting firm specializing in business intelligence and analytics.

Founded in 2001, Unilytics provides business intelligence (BI) services to help customers turn data into actionable insights. The company uses leading products such as Tableau, Power BI and Alteryx to create end-to-end BI reporting systems, connect data sources to a unified reporting database, and then output insightful dashboards.

The Unilytics service suite includes data preparation, storage, creation and enrichment as well as training. The company, which employs around a dozen people according to LinkedIn, has worked with large companies like Canadian Tire, Bayer, Desjardins, and Accenture.

Optimus SBR’s acquisition of Unilytics will strengthen the company’s data and analytics consulting offering. The transaction marks the seventh acquisition by the Toronto-based company since its inception.

Optimus SBR was founded in 2010 through the merger of the Optimus Consulting Group, the Kemerer Group and SBR Global and quickly grew from 30 to over 150 employees. The company has been named the Fastest Growing Company in Canada for the past eight years and one of Canada’s Best Places to Work for three consecutive years.

Optimus SBR provides advice on strategy, process management, program and project management, data and analytics, change management, human capital and learning.

“I’m excited to see the Unilytics story continue to evolve. Optimus SBR shares our entrepreneurial spirit and their bold, motivated attitude goes well with our value for our customers,” said Peder Enhorning, President and CEO of Unilytics.

The company also announced the formal launch of its technology practice, supporting clients with technology strategy and transformation, program and project management, and IT procurement, among other things. Optimus has hired Doug Wilson, formerly IT consultancy CGI and TD Bank, to lead the new practice.

The pandemic has increased the organizational demand for digital and technology advisory services as businesses and government agencies grapple with an increasing need for digital infrastructure, service delivery and digitally enhanced business models.

“While we have always offered some technology features, we felt it was important that we expand our official technology service offering,” said Kevin Gauci, Founder and CEO of Optimus.
