Fortnite has teamed up with another big brand. The Fortnite X Balenciaga collaboration offers new “skins” in the Fortnite item shop that were to be expected. To top it off, Balenciaga has released a new clothing line “Fortnite 2021”. With their designer names, the pieces range from $ 400 to $ 1,300, and unsurprisingly, most of the line is sold out.
A similar concept took place in 2019 when Louis Vuitton launched a line based on the League of Legends game. While the idea isn’t exactly original, it was very effective for both parties. If you know Fortnite, you know they go way beyond that when it comes to advertising.
Previous collaborations include the brand’s collaboration with stars like Travis Scott and Marshmallow. You’ve also worked closely with DC Comics in the past, as well as Marvel and Star Wars. Looking back on other fashion collaborations, the brand has partnered with Air Jordan and even the National Football League.
What is on offer?
For their most recent collaboration, Fortnite has released four different Balenciaga skins that can be purchased through the in-game item store function (Unchained Ramirez, Shady Doggo, Fashion Banshee and Game Knight). The skins feature original outfit designs courtesy of Balenciaga, along with a few skins that fans of the game will know and love. However, the skins now wear the new one Balenciaga X Fortnite Management.
This is an example of a collaboration between two companies that just makes sense. The response was phenomenal when you consider the different target groups of the two brands. We can assume that Fortnite as a brand will continue to break down barriers and bring a new, more diverse and interesting experience to its players in the gaming community.
