Drummond joins ASVA as attractions look to reopen – Daily Business

A communications and public relations professional with extensive experience promoting Scotland has joined the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA) leadership team to improve support for industry members.

Ellen Drummond has taken on the role of Communications Manager at ASVA, representing the visitor attraction sector which is a major contributor to the Scottish tourism industry worth £ 11 billion.

Ms. Drummond’s communications and public relations career spanned 15 years in tourism. For well over a decade, she was hired by Historic Scotland (now Historic Environment Scotland) to market its extensive portfolio of historic attractions and increase visitor numbers and membership.

She then spent four years with VisitScotland, helping the national tourism organization achieve its marketing goals by promoting regional visitor offers and experiences.

Most recently she worked as a communications consultant at the PR consultancy Smarts, which she joined after signing an extended maternity insurance contract with STV as communications and PR manager for the media brand.

Gordon Morrison, CEO of ASVA, said, “Ellen’s experience working with industry partners and stakeholders means she has an in-depth understanding of our industry and a thorough understanding of its opportunities and challenges.”

Ms. Drummond said, “It’s great to get back into the industry at such an important time as visitor attractions prepare to venture out of the effects of the pandemic.

“I look forward to supporting ASVA members over the next 12 months.”
