ForrestBrown, a research and development tax credit consultancy, has announced the opening of its first office in Scotland.

The office opens on West Regent Street in Glasgow this week and becomes ForrestBrown’s third office alongside London and its Bristol headquarters.

The decision to open one in Scotland is “a significant investment for ForrestBrown and demonstrates its commitment to a region that is at the forefront of technology, renewable energy and software,” it said.

Sara Brigden, General Manager of ForrestBrown said, “Today more than ever, businesses need trusted advisors and we are here to provide this vital support at the local level.

“We will focus on helping innovative Scottish companies maximize their competitive advantage and secure their future growth through this important funding. This new office will also enable us to better serve our existing customers and partners in Scotland and we look forward to building our ties here for years to come. ”

ForrestBrown’s Glasgow office is headed by Stephen Leishman, Tax Specialist in Research and Development, who will join as Senior Advisor in Scotland.

Mr. Leishman said, “I am incredibly proud to lead ForrestBrown’s expansion into Scotland.

“It’s a very exciting time to get into business. I’ve seen innovation firsthand in Scotland and have been fortunate enough to help hundreds of companies unleash critical funds for their growth plans.

“Despite the increasing awareness of the incentive, there are still companies in Scotland that are not maximizing their financial return and there is a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to realizing the real benefits of R&D tax breaks. Combined with a more streamlined approach by the HMRC, this means businesses are facing increased uncertainty. ForrestBrown’s service is unrivaled and our Glasgow office will focus on providing dedicated local support to clients seeking specialist advice on R&D tax relief. ”
