Christie Gillespie opts for worker possession – Each day Enterprise

Alistair Christie and Richard Gillespie

Just six years after the company was founded, two owners of an engineering office for civil engineering and building construction have adjusted to an employee participation model.

Alistair Christie and Richard Gillespie left WSP Global in 2015 to start Christie Gillespie Consulting, which has grown into a £ 1 million company.

You have now turned to Ownership Associates to implement your long-term succession plan, in which all 20+ employees will participate in the company through an Employee Ownership Trust [EOT].

Mr Gillespie said: “This is a step that has taken six years. From the start, Alistair and I were determined to leave a lasting legacy.

“We were fortunate to have an extremely high retention rate among our employees, although only one colleague left us in the six years of operation. This commitment and this drive have strengthened our decision to take the path of employee participation. “

The company is currently spread across offices in Dundee, Lothians and Fife, with plans to expand the team and geographic spread in the near future.

It has just won a £ 18 million contract to renovate and expand the Edinburgh One office building in the city’s Exchange district.
