The real estate consultancy MK2 Real Estate from Birmingham has moved to larger premises in the city center.

The company has acquired 57 Cornwall Street, part of the new Lightwell development, from developer Adapt. Creative Retail advised Adapt on the sale.

MK2 bought the 4,100 m² corner office on the ground floor in April of this year and recently moved in after being fully furnished with Class A services and a mezzanine.

The expansion was carried out by MK2’s own construction consultancy team under the direction of Ian Wilton. City Office Interiors was the outfitter.

Previously based at 172 Edmund Street, the move to 57 Cornwall Street has more than doubled MK2’s office space and can now accommodate up to 30 people. The company currently employs 19 people, having recently appointed Chief Surveyor Simrun Kaur and Facility Manager Daniel Blakeman.

Mark Johnson, co-founder and director of MK2 Real Estate, said, “We had outgrown our previous office and needed more space to expand.

“Three years ago our goal was to be a £ 4.5 million company with 30 employees in five years. We are currently halfway there, both in headcount and sales, and the new office will help achieve our goal.

“Having your own office is a significant investment in the company’s long-term future, as well as an obligation to be physically present in the city center, which is important to us and our customers.”

MK2 Real Estate specializes in investment, property management, construction advice and rental advice.

In the past 12 months, the company has closed 18 investment deals, with a further ten deals in the pipeline. MK2’s property management team currently manages a portfolio of more than 3.4 million

Johnson said, “While investment transactions were down year-over-year, our advisory teams have been busy, particularly rental consulting with rental reviews and rental renewals, and construction consulting.

“Despite the challenges posed by Covid-19, this contributed to the overall positive development of the business last year.”
