Two leading business people from the region have teamed up to help companies scale.

Naomi Timperley and Vikas Shah MBE are behind We are GSI based in Manchester, a new “entrepreneur-led management consultancy”.

Together, they have worked with companies across the UK, from startups to scale ups, and from family businesses to publicly traded companies, providing entrepreneur-led advice and access to the networks, partners and suppliers to enable growth.

Naomi and Vikas decided to combine their expertise to help companies scale with growth, strategy and innovation services.

A fixture in the tech world, Naomi is a co-founder of Tech North Advocates and an experienced growth and innovation advisor.

She was named one of the top 50 Computer Weekly Most Influential Women in UK IT for the last four years in a row and was previously Chair of Future Everything.

Vikas Shah, author of Thought Economics, is an entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist.

He is CEO of the Trafford Park-based Swiscot Group and a venture investor in a number of international companies.

He is also a non-executive director of the UK Government’s Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and a non-executive director of the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk, Vikas said: “For many companies, the world is a very complicated place.

“Every company needs external know-how and usually gets it from the professional service sector, which is very well served.

“However, there is a huge void for entrepreneurship advice and a true co-pilot for your senior team who has done this in the business world and can now help companies grow and scale.

“Naomi has worked with many organizations over the years and I’ve invested in some and advised some. Together we try to bring this entrepreneurial perspective into these companies and these founders in order to help them to be successful. “

Naomi said, “We offer growth strategy support, innovation and market validation. There aren’t many people doing what we do, such as board counseling or a “dormitory entrepreneur” program.

“Vikas and I have been doing this for many years, we have worked together on several projects and thought it was time to finally do something together.”

She added, “We already have a pipeline of inquiries since launch and it feels like we came at a time when companies really need this high-profile expertise in order to grow and serve them help.”

While We are GSI is headquartered in Manchester, the consultancy will work with companies across the UK.

Vikas added, “One of the most important things businesses need is resilience, and to build a resilient business, they need growth and strategy.

“You need to grow to the point where your cash flow makes you resilient, but you also need to have a strategy in place on your business to make sure your risks are controlled, your governance is in control so that you, when something happens, you know what to do.

“This is what we want to bring to ensure that the companies we work with become stronger and more resilient and more successful.”
