Michael Ertl will take over the management of the Inorganic Pigments (IPG) business unit at LANXESS with immediate effect. He will be responsible for the company’s global business with inorganic color pigments, which are primarily used in the construction industry, according to a company release.

Ertl succeeds Holger Hueppeler (53), who heads the newly established Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) division after the takeover of Emerald Kalama Chemical.

“We are delighted that in Michael Ertl we have been able to win an experienced manager from our own ranks for this important business area,” said LANXESS board member Hubert Fink.

He added: “Holger Hueppeler has successfully expanded the global business with inorganic color pigments over the past four years. I would like to thank him for this on behalf of the Executive Board. “

The statement also states that after studying process engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Ertl came to Bayer AG in 1992 as a division engineer and then held various managerial positions in the technology division. In 2005 he took over the management of the internal management consultancy Operational Excellence at LANXESS. Three years later he switched to Aliseca GmbH, where he worked as a department head and site manager in Krefeld-Uerdingen. In 2013 he took over the management of the LANXESS Chempark office in Leverkusen. Since October 2015 he has headed the Benzyl Products and Inorganic Acids business line within the Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit.

The IPG division is part of LANXESS’s Advanced Intermediates segment, which achieved sales of around two billion euros in fiscal 2020. IPG operates its largest location in Krefeld-Uerdingen as well as other locations in Porto Feliz (Brazil), Starpointe Burgettstown (USA), Branston (Great Britain), Vilassar de Mar (Spain), Sydney (Australia) and Ningbo (China) mentioned the statement.
