Personal equity-backed Leicester agency snaps up Sheffield consultancy

Private equity-backed Construction Testing Solutions (CTS), a Leicester provider of construction consulting and testing services, has acquired Silkstone Environmental Limited (SEL), a multidisciplinary consulting firm specializing in the planning and approval of minerals and waste management, site surveys and environmental monitoring specializes in and surveying.

Silkstone Environmental, based in Sheffield, has 12 employees and operates across the UK.

The deal follows the acquisition of CGL by CTS in November 2020 and the Nicholls Colton Group in February 2021.

The acquisition of Silkstone will allow CTS to expand its existing capabilities and further strengthen its offering by expanding its environmental, landfill, quarry monitoring and permit planning advisory capabilities.

The former owner and general manager of Silkstone, Mark Barrett, will remain with the company.

With headquarters in Leicester and a nationwide network of 16 laboratories and offices, it offers a wide range of construction consulting and testing services. CTS supports all sectors of the construction market including residential, commercial, rail, road, airports, tunneling, mining and utilities, as well as the rehabilitation of brownfield sites.
