Yorkshire tech boss donates consultancy time in aid of premature birth charity

Tim Mercer – CEO of disruptive cloud technology company Vapor – has launched a fundraiser for the premature baby charity Borne. And he’s calling on corporate and IT executives to work with him to fill the coffers.

Over the next six months, Tim has pledged to donate up to 24 days of his time to run digital transformation sessions for businesses large and small. Vapor will cover topics ranging from secure hybrid work infrastructures and cloud-based communication to debunking the misunderstandings associated with SD-WAN and robotic process automation. Vapor won’t make a penny from these consultations.

But in return for his expertise, Tim will ask the companies to donate £ 250 for a three-hour session or £ 500 for a seven-hour session. And 100% of the funds raised will be used to achieve the bold goal that the Vapor team has set for itself.

Borne was announced as Vapors’ charity for the next 12 months just a few weeks ago, and by the end of June 2022, colleagues are hoping to have raised £ 23,000 for this good cause.

“When we introduced Borne as our charity of choice for 2021-22, we started an employee auction that same day to raise funds,” said Tim. “The employees were full of ideas for climbing mountains, collecting kilometers, asking questions and holding bake-off-style competitions. But reaching our whopping £ 23,000 goal will be an accomplishment in itself. It is therefore important that we come up with as many ideas as possible.

“Because organizations have seen more workplace changes in the past 12 months than they typically do in a 5 to 10 year period, I thought donating my time, industry knowledge, and advice could help fuel our fundraising efforts, and help the organizations do too whom I speak. I am ready to cover any topic from our toolkit or any solution we currently highlight on our website. So I’m looking forward to finding out what I’m being charged with and hope that the coffers will fill up. “

Reflecting on the reasons for choosing Borne – an organization dedicated to saving lives, preventing disabilities and maintaining lifelong maternal and baby health, Tim added, “Our families are what we protect most want, and having premature births is an ongoing problem that no one understands, there seemed no better reason.

“That is the main reason for child mortality worldwide today. More important than infection, trauma or cancer are around 15 million babies around the world each year – including nearly 60,000 in the UK. That is why we want to do our part to ensure that babies are not born prematurely. And we hope that we can find appropriate support for our diverse endeavors. “
