World Maritime launches geoscience enterprise unit – reNews

The Global Maritime Group (GMG) has established a geosciences division led by Gareth Ellery, who joins GMG from a director position at Cathie, part of the DEME Group.

GMG offers geotechnical, geophysical and GIS services, typically in collaboration with industrial partners, and the new division will enable GMG to offer an integrated service that enables the company to provide “added value and a wider range of high quality technical services”. during the entire project life cycle in geospatial, geophysical, geological and geotechnical disciplines.

In addition to the services already provided for the site approval of jack-up installation vessels and mobile units, the business area will offer geographic hazard analyzes, surveying advice, soil modeling, installation and design geotechnical engineering as well as underwater cable engineering.

Ellery (pictured left) said, “I am excited to join Global Maritime at such an exciting time for the company and the offshore wind industry.

“We will build a very strong geoscientific capacity to directly address the challenges posed by solid ground and floating offshore wind and offshore oil and gas around the world.

“GM’s global presence, independent focus and complementary expertise in areas such as shipbuilding, naval operations and design are a compelling argument in favor of developing this new business area that I am proud to head.”
