Ramboll appoints former SSE director to lead UK energy business

Global engineering and consulting company Ramboll Appointed John Mullen, formerly Director of Asset Management for SSE, to lead the UK arm of its 1,600-strong global energy business.

Ramboll’s UK energy business is responsible for many high profile energy projects. From the Moray East offshore wind farm in Scotland and the biomass conversion of the Lynemouth power plant in Northumberland to the district heating network of Clyde Gateway in Glasgow, the citywide heat decarbonization delivery schedule for Bristol and the state-of-the-art energy recovery (NLHPP) at the Edmonton EcoPark in London.

John is a seasoned executive with an in-depth understanding of the UK energy sector, with over 25 years of utility and remote energy experience. John spent over 13 years at SSE where he was responsible for the safety, performance and lifetime optimization of facilities and equipment including a waste and biomass plant, a private water business, sixteen district heating networks, generation plants and one of the largest private networks in the UK and driven Multi-million pound growth for SSE’s Distributed Energy group.

Accordingly, John will not only lead Ramboll’s UK energy business in the UK market as a whole, but will also take on departmental responsibility for the UK District Energy team.
