Many companies have re-evaluated their communication and marketing methods and made better use of IT over the past 12 months.

Sophie Coombs started her digital marketing apprenticeship at J & PR, a public relations and marketing agency, in December 2019 after dropping out of university.

She didn’t enjoy her university course but feels that her education was right for her and put her on the right career path.

Like many apprentices, Sophie’s training was affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. However, with hard work and regular support from her trainer and employer, she was pleased to receive an award in her endpoint assessment.

After completing her apprenticeship, Sophie developed further at J & PR and is now a digital account manager who supports clients with their digital marketing campaigns.

She said that everything she does now as part of her role was developed during her education and laid the foundation for her full-time job.

“Everything I learned during my apprenticeship I do every day now, so it’s invaluable to me,” she said. “The education at SBC Training was fantastic and provided excellent training and support from my trainer, who supported my well-being and treated me with respect as myself. I would really recommend this path.”

Amanda Carpenter, Shropshire Head Project Leader, said, “Sophie’s accomplishments are a great example of what can be achieved.”

She added, “I have seen an increasing interest from employers in hiring digital marketing trainees. Many young people use social media and IT in their everyday life. Together with their creative minds, training in digital marketing is an incredible step on the career ladder. “

Currently available training opportunities include The Needham Group in Whitchurch, Lowfield Timber near Welshpool, and Furrows of Shrewsbury.
