The best way to Create a Distressed Letterpress Print Impact in Photoshop

How to create a distressed letterpress effect in Photoshop

In today’s Photoshop tutorial, I’m going to show you how to add grungy, distressed, ink-stamped effects to your type, logo, or illustration. The effect is similar to letterpress style or any other printing method such as a stamp or an old typewriter. I’ll show you how to stress your clean digital artwork to make it look fuzzy and irregular, as if the ink is bleeding, to distort the outline of the artwork and to blend some areas together. I’m going to provide you with my free Dirty Surface Textures to simulate that parts of a stamped print are not sufficiently covered with ink, giving it a nice textured retro print look. Then we’re going to use the same dirty surface textures to finish off the artwork with a complementary dirty background and completely transform the clean digital art into cheap letterpress with gritty details.
