Darren Hodson is the head behind DJH Bridgnorth Consulting, who will also develop new equipment and improve existing products for customers.

As a former stress engineer in the aircraft industry, he gained his expertise in a combination of civil and military aircraft and has also served as a technical expert in medical devices and as a senior engineer and scientist in the pharmaceutical sector.

“I love the thrill of innovation, using cutting-edge predictive science to design and develop new revolutionary products,” said Darren, who turned to Bridgnorth-based management consultancy Good2Great for advice on his new business.

“My new consultancy will help customers develop and improve the robustness of products and manufacturing processes using advanced engineering software, computer-aided analysis, and related design tools.”

Typical customers are small and medium-sized engineering offices or consulting firms that cover a wide range of products.

His new business came about while spending a year sabbatical in his career and was approached by a colleague to help develop hoists for the steel industry. This project was a great success and led to further work.

“I enjoyed the thrill of creativity that I had missed in my previous role, so I decided to start my company and enroll on the Good2Great start-up business course.

“Knowing Good 2 Great was there every week, offering both the eight-week training program, a network hub on Friday and detailed advice on a variety of things.

“I would encourage all new companies to get started with Good2Great,” added Darren.
