On April 19, the industrial and management consultancy AMAC (Aachen) announced its collaboration with the Institute for Textile Technology ITA at RWTH Aachen University and its partner ITA GmbH (Aachen). The aim of the cooperation is to strengthen and further develop business activities in composite materials.

ITA, which is considered one of the largest institutes on the campus of the University of RWTH Aachen, develops complete solutions from the production of the fiber itself to the processing of textile intermediate products with thermoplastic and thermosetting resins to the production of textile-based parts with braiding, pultrusion and In-situ impregnation of textile preforms.

The company’s focus is on the transport industry – especially in the field of electromobility – in the construction industry and in wind energy. ITA GmbH is the university’s R&D partner and focuses on eight business areas. It offers technology and knowledge transfer as well as comprehensive solutions along the entire textile value chain.

“Our many years of experience and our unsurpassed know-how with all aspects of continuous fibers, nonwovens and web-based reinforcements enable us to provide composite material manufacturers with a complete range of technologies and services for the development of technical textiles from the development of glass and carbon fibers for the textile-based Processing of composite parts “, says Prof. Dr. Thomas Gries, director of ITA. “In all process steps of our research and development, we concentrate on sustainable and recyclable solutions, an efficient cost-benefit ratio, the possible use of bio-based materials and the reduction of our carbon footprint. We look forward to working with Dr. Michael Effing and AMAC to work together to benefit from its network for opening doors in the composites industry. “

Dr. Michael Effing, Managing Director of AMAC GmbH, is pleased to be able to support the ITA in generating innovations thanks to further industrial networking and pre-competitive joint projects. “ITA is indeed a single point of contact for composite solutions from the fiber to the cost-effective manufacture of end parts,” he says. “In view of the effects of COVID-19 on the entire industry, it makes sense to join forces. In addition, with its long tradition and satisfied customers of the composite materials industry, ITA offers further valuable networking opportunities as well as access to relevant additional fiber-based top performance and 250 different technologies in its machine park as well as an excellent infrastructure in Aachen. “
