Luis Suárez donates 500 signed PUMA footballs to youth teams based on his historic landmark of 500 goals

Global sports company PUMA has teamed up with Uruguay and Atlético de Madrid star Luis Suárez after the player achieved the 500th historic goal of donating 500 PUMA footballs to youth football teams in each of the cities Luis has played during his career. Each football was given a special touch by Luis to inspire the next generation of talent.

“I wanted to give something back to the seven teams that have shaped me as a footballer,” said Luis Suárez. “I wanted to give the youth teams in need of support and equipment a boost to inspire them to follow their dreams. I wanted to pay tribute to the teams, players and fans who were part of my journey. Nacional, Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, Madrid and Uruguay are very close to my heart, so this was a special tribute to them and their communities. “

In addition to his donation, Luis included a special message for each club in a letter that he shared with his social media followers after scoring 500th goal. He thanked each team for their support and the impact each team had on them from the field.

“Breaking the record is an individual honor, but I could never have achieved this feat on my own. My teammates and the fans were there every step of the way. Sport connects people and brings communities together. I hope that the donation and the letter can put a smile on people’s faces. Football has given me so much and I want to give something back to people, ”said Luis Suárez.

To celebrate Luis’ incredible achievement, PUMA created a special edition FUTURE Z football boot with 500 goals. The next generation FUTURE Z features a striking design inspired by Luis’ proud Uruguayan heritage. On the heel of the shoe is a 500 goal motif with Luis’ famous “El Pistolero” logo on the medial side.

The targets are shown at the top to indicate that Luis hit the target 500 times. The colors of the teams that Luis has represented throughout his career are integrated into the footbed of the PUMA shoe.
