Amcor Consolidates Company Purposes With Orange Enterprise Providers Hybrid Cloud for Higher Agility and Utility Availability

PARIS–(BUSINESS WIRE) – Amcor, a leading global packaging company, has further consolidated its enterprise applications in a hybrid cloud and redesigned its ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) tools. The hybrid cloud integrates your global data centers and network infrastructures, using the solutions and know-how of Orange Business Services to make the overall business more responsive.

As a long-standing customer, Amcor had previously provided the hybrid cloud solution from Orange Business Services and consolidated both the infrastructure managed by the private cloud and the global public cloud services. For the public cloud services, which include the operating system and middleware management as well as the hosting and operation of the IT applications, Amcor uses the trustworthy public cloud solution Flexible Engine from Orange Business Services in combination with the new SAP Hana-certified Cloud solution.

Orange Business Services has now expanded this agreement to provide Amcor with a fully managed end-to-end hybrid cloud solution that includes the operating system, databases, and disaster recovery and backup. In addition, Orange updated and combined the existing data center environment by integrating some of Amcor’s legacy ERP workloads into a SAP Hana solution and relevant workloads.

Fully managed end-to-end hybrid cloud solution

The focus of the consolidation was on workloads in different data centers so that both high availability and the company can effectively benefit from operational efficiency. Workloads have been migrated to the private cloud, while SAP workloads are managed on Orange’s Flexible Engine for SAP, certified by SAP HANA, to ensure business continuity with complete flexibility. In addition, Amcor offers a simple migration path to SAP HANA, the new SAP database “In-Memory”.

At the same time, other business applications have switched to Flexible Engine. The entire hybrid cloud is now integrated into Amcor’s existing Orange Business VPN network in order to securely manage the growing Internet traffic and optimize costs and performance.

“We were looking for a global provider who could simplify our operations while ensuring security, performance and 24-hour access to our business-critical applications and data. Orange Business Services has done our job so that we can better balance the workload in the cloud and provide an effective solution that provides the flexibility we need, ”said Joel Ranchin, vice president, Group IT, Amcor.

“We are excited to be part of Amcor’s mature cloud journey, providing them with the advice, expertise and fully managed cloud services to give them the peace of mind they can actively support their business results and growth,” said Fabrice de Windt, Senior Vice President, Europe, Orange Business Services.
