Enviromental consultancy makes use of grant to future-proof enterprise

Environmental consulting uses grants for future-proof business

An environmental consultancy future proofed its business after receiving more than £ 22,000 from a grant program supported by the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership.

Environmental Management Solutions (EMS) introduced new services and hired new employees after converting a former doctor’s office into a new office and laboratory in central Hereford.

The company, which specializes in asbestos surveying and consulting, geotechnical and geo-environmental surveys and water safety services, was founded in 2003 and has grown from a two-person team to a cross-departmental organization across the UK and Europe.

The grant was secured from the Marches Building Investment Grant program.

Director Jamie Perkins-Best said, “The new offices on King Street provide much-needed additional space for EMS, which has grown year on year since 2003.

“With the acquisition of Cardiff-based consulting firm NG Associates, we recently added air testing, surveillance and laboratory services to our repertoire of environmental advisory services.

“The new office will provide a designated space for this department so that EMS can set up a UKAS accredited asbestos testing laboratory, the first of its kind in Herefordshire. This will allow EMS to test asbestos samples in-house and hopefully do more business in Herefordshire and the Marches areas.

“The grant from MBIG was a great help for the development costs to transform the doctor’s practice into a contemporary office space. Even during the uncertainty of the Covid pandemic, we were able to strengthen the business by expanding the services and making new jobs in our community future-proof create. “
