French President Emmanuel Macron has announced the death of Olivier Dassault, son of the late CEO of the Dassault Group, Serge Dassault and grandson of the company’s founder.

Olivier Dassault, an entrepreneur and politician who held roles within the aerospace company, was reportedly involved in a helicopter crash in Normandy, northern France, on March 7th.

Macron says he was an “industry captain” and a reserve commander in the Air Force.

“He never stopped serving our country,” he added.

Prime Minister Jean Castex describes Dassault as a “visionary entrepreneur” and a “man deeply committed to his country”.

The French investigative agency BEA is investing in Touques, Normandy, a fatal rotorcraft accident that occurred at 5:50 p.m. with F-GIBM, an Airbus H125 helicopter.

It has not been confirmed whether this accident occurred during takeoff from private land Dassault. According to the BEA, the investigators will be on site tomorrow morning.

The French Aviation Authority lists F-GIBM as a 1981 aircraft connected to a Paris-based unit called the Dolijet.
