A local real estate consultancy is leading the way in helping coworkers wellbeing by building an integrated digital support program.

Based in Stafford, Staffordshire, Fisher German has been committed to positive mental health and wellbeing in the workplace for a number of years and has made significant investments in online resources since the pandemic started last year.

The company has now gone one step further and has launched a “Wellness Wednesday” initiative that gives all 600 colleagues the opportunity to focus on various aspects of their personal and professional wellbeing.

The initiative consists of webinars and interactive workshops from experts on topics such as stress, financial wellbeing, managing change and practical ways to maintain wellbeing at home, as well as Q&A with a registered nutritionist.

Health and fitness were also prioritized, with a monthly online yoga class and team walking challenges to encourage people to take a break from their desks to exercise.

Colleagues try yoga on a CPD day. The classes have now gone online because colleagues work from home (photo before Covid).

Colleagues were also invited to sign up for a four-week program that focuses on personal and professional resilience.

Maria Hawley, HR director at Fisher German said, “Promoting positive mental health and wellbeing has always been a key priority, but it is clear that the third lockdown affects people. That is why we want to do everything we can to support our colleagues’ health, fight burnout and bring variety to their working days.

“While we held support sessions during the pandemic, our Wellness Wednesday initiative shows that the wellbeing of colleagues is paramount.”

The company has already poured funds into a variety of wellbeing resources and will continue to host monthly online yoga classes and workshops even after its offices can be fully reopened.

Eleanor Saunders-Brant, Communications Manager, said, “We have kept the agenda diverse to make sure there is something that interests people across the company and we have had a lot of positive feedback.
