Chaucer buys IT consultancy Medley Enterprise Options

Chris Laslett and Tim Eglen

The digital transformation consultancy Chaucer Group has acquired ICT consultancy Medley Business Solutions. The deal creates a team of more than 500 consultants in the UK and USA.

Founded more than 30 years ago by Bob and Chris Laslett, the consulting firm Chaucer initially focused on advising the oil, nuclear and construction industries. In 2020, the consulting firm Chaucer began to initiate a new growth phase. Earlier this year, the search for an experienced partner who could support his ambitions led to a new partnership with BIP, which had tried to develop its own global presence.

The partnership was the most significant milestone to date in BIP’s ambitious growth plan – with expected sales of £ 313 million by the end of 2020 – but it also allowed Chaucer to weigh up new acquisition targets. Building on a portfolio of clients in the energy, life sciences, public services, law enforcement, legal and manufacturing sectors, Chaucer has added Medley Business Solutions to its ranks.

Chris Laslett, CEO of Chaucer, commented, “I am very excited to welcome Medley to the Chaucer family. We have worked closely as partners in the past and I look forward to continuing our journey now as a team. “

Headquartered in Guildford, the company was founded in 1997 and is still run by founder Tim Eglen. It is a successful IT and management consultancy. Medley provides independent customer-side services from strategy to implementation and operations, as well as services to central government, criminal justice, law enforcement, government agencies and NDPBs.

On the news, Eglen said, “We are excited about this opportunity. It is a great opportunity for Medley and our employees to build on our continued successful growth and create new value for our customers, citizens and society at large. Chaucer is an ideal partner because we have common values and ways of working. “
