In a relationship with Enlightenment and global cultural phenomenon, minions and universal brand development, Reebok officially unveils its Minions: The Rise of Gru collection, which celebrates the blockbuster franchise's upcoming theatrical release on July 2, 2021.
The exclusive shoe collection for the whole family, available on the brand's website and select retailers worldwide from October 1st, unfolds a true creative alliance of epic proportions, revealing a master plan that has been in the works for years.
Illuminations legendary Despicable Me, recognized worldwide as the world's most successful animated film franchise of all time, continues to spark the imagination of audiences worldwide. Developing the legacy of the Minions and Reebok's historically audacious brand narrative, the Minions x Reebok collection takes direct inspiration from the upcoming film that tells the untold story of a 12-year-old's dream to become the world's greatest supervillain.
The Minions x Reebok Question Mid "Gru & # 39; s Lab" is an imaginative modification of the historical Question Mid, which was inspired by a young Gru for the "worst" baller of all time, Allen Iverson. This silver / black finish brings glow-in-the-dark sticky "slime" into the outsole through two inlet and outlet pipes for an impossible grip on the court while custom rocket booster graphics under the feet of any undersized villain drive to the edge.
Use various "metals" from Gru's lab to form a largely unpolished silver upper, while a better-finished chrome leather appears on the heel above its signature "G" logo stamped instead of the traditional Iverson "3". Mixing a variety of contrasting prints, colors, materials, and textures, the silhouette grows as tall as the villains themselves. The left shoe includes gold and yellow color-blocking, materials and graphics from Belle Bottom (voiced by Taraji P. Henson) wardrobe, rugged Allusions to Stronghold's (Danny Trejo) tank and a specially shaped TPU with heel made of artificial stingray material Inspired by Jean Claws (Jean-Claude Van Damme) robotic crab arm, while the right shoe has a padded collar lining with racing stripes and spikes made by Svengeance's (Dolph Lundgren) over-the-top roller derby uniform, a teal and gold filigree inspired with a stained glass pump ball that recreates the sacred chariot of Nun Chuck (Lucy Lawless), and a pony hair with a zebra stripe and one Gator-embossed toe nodding at the throne, trophies and weapons of White Nuckle (Alan Arkin).
The Minions x Reebok Club C "Vicious 6" shoe is a nod to the movie's' 70s vibe and the specific textures and retro colors of the Vicious 6 villain lounge. This subtle Club C has corduroy, premium leather and nubuck leather on the upper, a velvety lining, a shag rug sock lining and soft cotton laces, all brought together by the Vicious 6 logo on the tongue.
The Minions x Reebok Instapump Fury "Minions" shoe pays homage to the iconic yellow and blue color palette of the Minions. Introduced through the eyes of the Minions themselves, this vibrant yet wearable version of the Instapump Fury forms an asymmetrical pair with bold allusions to the movie including a Minions party insole, Minion eyes on both pump buttons, a banana peel graphic on the left outsole and reflective hits.
The Minions x Reebok Club C "Otto" is that subtle but bright version of the classic Club C that is only for kids. He celebrates the franchise's newest Minion, "Otto". The silhouette, a second creation inspired by the Minions horde, is filled with yellow paint, Minions party insoles, lime green, and a splash of mud on each outsole – the meaning revealed in the upcoming film.
Finally, Gru's lab is recreated in real life through raised sneaker packaging that houses each of these Reebok creations. The box features hand-drawn orthographic views of Gru's nursery and the top secret den, which are littered with Easter eggs from the upcoming movie, as well as additional details that Minions, Iverson and Reebok fans will all enjoy.
