Porsche sponsors the young footballers from Borussia Mönchengladbach

Porsche is committed to society in the long term and takes responsibility for young people in particular

As part of his growing commitment to youth football Porsche The AG is working with the German club Borussia Mönchengladbach to sponsor their young players for the 2020/2021 Bundesliga season.

The sports car manufacturer has teamed up with the German soccer club Borussia Mönchengladbach to sponsor its young soccer players and will give its name to the famous “Fohlenstall” academy in reference to the club's nickname. The Porsche youth development program called "Turbo for Talents" is also displayed on the limitation boards at the top club's home games.

“Borussia Mönchengladbach traditionally offers excellent junior and youth coaching. Many young players made the leap into professional football there, ”says Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman and member of the Finance and IT management team at Porsche AG.

“The continuous expansion of support for talented young people is made possible by our commitment. For us, it's about teaching young people values and social skills through sport. In football, children learn early on that they can only find solutions in a team. Borussia Mönchengladbach is a partner with similar values that they also live by. Team spirit, respect, passion, tolerance and fairness also play an important role in the corporate culture at Porsche. "

“Porsche has been supporting young people for years and developing them both on and off the field. The approach suits us very well. We are proud that the global brand Borussia Mönchengladbach is committed to supporting our efforts to achieve our goals ”, says Max Eberl, sports director at one of the leading German clubs.

“Porsche's commitment to our club shows that the public has noticed the positive development in recent years, especially among the juniors. Together with Porsche, we will expand our successful academy system and raise it to a new level. "

Sami Khedira, soccer world champion and ambassador for the Porsche Turbo for Talents youth development program since 2018, also welcomes the partnership. "Working with juniors is extremely important, I know that from experience," says the long-time Bundesliga player.

“With Turbo for Talents, Porsche is committed to society and takes responsibility, especially for young people. The projects enable children and young people to develop personally through sport. My heart beats for soccer. For me it is particularly gratifying that Borussia Mönchengladbach, one of the most popular German clubs, is part of the initiative. "

In addition to supporting talented young people, the compatibility of sport, school and leisure time plays an important role. It has already been successfully implemented in the Gladbachs Academy's boarding school, which will now be known as the “Porsche foal stable”.

The colors of the sports car manufacturer are not only shown on the foal training area: the company logo can also be seen on the facade and in the entrance of the boarding school and on the shirt sleeves of all Borussia junior and youth teams.

Joint professional training courses for talented young players are also planned. The program also includes the use of social media, application coaching and child protection, as well as the prevention of doping, racism and compulsive gambling. Joint projects for sustainability and social responsibility are also carried out.

With the partnership, Porsche is expanding its previous activities in youth football in West Germany for the first time. The sports car manufacturer already supports RB Leipzig in the east and SV Stuttgarter Kickers and SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the south.
