IKEA and LEGO introduces BYGGLEK, intertwining play and storage

IKEA and LEGO introduce BYGGLEK, which connects play and storage

IKEA of Sweden AB and the LEGO Group are committed to removing barriers to daily life while creating practical, yet playful experiences that children and adults can enjoy together

IKEA from Sweden AB and the LEGO Group reveals the long-awaited result of their collaboration. The two brands have teamed up to create a playful storage solution called BYGGLEK.

The new BYGGLEK collection consists of a series of storage boxes with LEGO rivets and a special LEGO brick set. It should stimulate play and be more fun to store around the house. The BYGGLEK collection will be available from October 1st in existing IKEA sales channels across Europe (excluding Russia) and North America. The global roll-out will take place in 2020.

Firmly believing that play makes both the home and the world a better place, IKEA of Sweden AB and the LEGO Group are committed to removing barriers to daily life while providing a practical, yet playful experience to create that children and adults can enjoy together.

Play is the most intuitive and powerful way for children to learn and grow. However, children and adults sometimes have different views when it comes to playing and being creative at home. Where adults often have to create structure and organize themselves, children see a stimulating and creative environment in which they naturally want to play, pause and then repeat.

By tidying up and reorganizing the children's creative space during playtime, we not only disrupt their play, but also their creative expression and growth. Because of this, the companies wanted to develop a storage solution that offered a fun, playful experience. Since the BYGGLEK boxes have LEGO rivets on the top and front, kids can incorporate the storage boxes as part of their LEGO builds. They can store their stories in themselves and proudly display their creations about them.

“At IKEA, we always believe in the power of play. Through play we can explore, experiment, dream and discover. "Andreas Fredriksson, Designer at IKEA in Sweden, said:" Where adults often see chaos, children see a stimulating creative environment, and BYGGLEK will help bridge the gap between these two perspectives to bring more creative play to private homes around the world. In addition, the BYGGLEK collection fits perfectly with other IKEA products, so that your children's creativity becomes a beautiful and unique decorative item at home. "

About the creative solution Rasmus Buch Løgstrup, designer of the LEGO Group, said: “BYGGLEK is more than boxes. It is memory and plays intertwined. BYGGLEK offers families a range of products that help make room for more play every day. This encourages creativity and makes it possible to have more fun together. There is an option to play, view the cool creations, and come back to her to replay, recreate, recreate, or start over. BYGGLEK is all about endless possibilities, just like the LEGO system in the game. "

The BYGGLEK range consists of 4 different products – one set with 3 small boxes and two sets with larger boxes and a set of LEGO bricks to start the playful experience. BYGGLEK can be used with all existing and future LEGO elements, as the studs used on the lid and front are part of the LEGO system in the game.

The LEGO system in the game allows children to create and rebuild their own stories, and through the process, develop key 21st century skills. With BYGGLEK, we hope to expand the LEGO play experience and provide fun creative storage solutions that are as playable as they are functional.
