Skittles gives up its rainbow on Pride Packs to celebrate the LGBTQ + community

This June Skittles gives up its signature rainbow by removing the colorful branding to celebrate the LGBTQ + community and emphasize that during Pride only #OneRainbow is important. For the first time in the US, the brand releases limited Skittles Pride Packs.

The packs have a colorless design with colorless candies inside. As part of the market launch, the brand also announces a partnership with GLAADwho have favourited LGBTQ + Media Advocacy Group. In June, $ 1 / £ 0.82 per package purchased will be donated to GLAAD (up to $ 100,000 / £ 81.7,000).

The Pride Packs are part of the "Give the Rainbow" Skittles campaign that the brand previously launched in Canada, Germany and the UK. Although you won't see the usual bright colors on the packaging and candy from Skittles Pride Packs, the packs contain the original five fruity aromas of strawberry, orange, grape, green apple and lemon. The limited-edition packs are available from CVS and selected Walmart stores in stock-size packs and medium-sized stand-up bags.

"This Pride month, Skittles is removing its rainbow, but replacing it with much-needed talks about the LGBTQ + community and visible solidarity," said Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of GLAAD.

“The funds GLAAD receives from the Skittles Pride Packs will support our news and campaign program, which tells culture-changing stories of LGBTQ + people and media topics throughout the year. This year, when many LGBTQ + people are unable to congregate at major pride events, it is so important that brands, personalities, and other allies find authentic and creative ways to show that they are of our community. "

"While Pride Month is sure to be different this year, Skittles is passionate about supporting the LGBTQ + community," said Hank Izzo, vice president of marketing for Mars Wrigley US. "We believe that giving up our rainbow means so much more than just removing it." The colors of our Skittles packs and we look forward to making our contribution to improving the LGBTQ + community not only in June but also throughout the year through our partnership with GLAAD. "
