A financial recruiter has built his own recruitment agency after working closely with SMEs and accountants in the region for the past 20 years.

With the aim of capitalizing on a resurgent market, KUDU Search will find and attract finance professionals for owner-managed businesses in Yorkshire. It will work with seasoned finance directors and CFOs, as well as aspiring finance directors of the future.

Founding Director Don Aitken is already a familiar face in and around the Yorkshire advisory community.

He said, “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and while the pandemic isn’t over, the time is right.

“The financial recruitment market recovered in the second half of 2020 and has been picking up speed ever since.

“Many candidates and clients are planning for the future again instead of focusing on the short-term opportunities and challenges of Covid.”

Aitken added that while the national image is one of a lack of candidates and an overall difficulty in finding and recruiting the best people, he sees this as the real opportunity for his company, with a “renewed” opportunity on both sides of the job Hunger for change is equation.

He said, “If the opportunity is compelling and the recruiting process is going well, you can always find the best people even if they’re not looking for the next challenge.

“In many places there is currently a mismatch between talent and opportunity. Positive and negative changes have left people in the wrong place.

“On the employers’ side, we have directors who have been less than impressed with their current FD, banks who want more insightful management information, and owners who are now considering growing and investing or exiting.

“Conversely, some companies have plateaued or stepped back and their ambitious FD has to move on before their résumé also plateau.”
