The listed building of the Mending Rooms has been converted into high-quality business accommodation

The project was supported by a grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with a total development cost of £ 2.3 million.

The new users are AHCI, The City Partnership and Ash Products. They are joining Biofresh, Porky Penguin, Lumley Baxter Asset Management and Foodmate UK in the historic building.

Martin Duckett of developers Park Valley Huddersfield said the radically renovated Mending Rooms will provide world-class workspaces for SMEs in a successful location to support overseas investment and the company’s expansion.

“We are excited that this exciting opportunity has brought seven successful and growing innovative companies to work together in a contemporary space of the highest quality in a historical setting,” he said.

Sarah-Jayne Lishman of Leeds-based real estate consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips added, “It’s great news that the Mending Rooms are now full.

“This great development supports economic growth in the Huddersfield area and improves the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses.

“We offer space for small start-ups and entrepreneurs who have a first-class physical and digital infrastructure and support the growth and sustainability of their companies. Sufficient on-site parking spaces are also available. “

AHCI’s Dan Vinter said, “It’s quite simply the nicest office in the whole Huddersfield area. Nothing comes close.

“The details that the owners have put into the construction really speak for themselves.

“We are so happy to have found these special offices. We were also very impressed by Adeel Adnan, who worked with us on behalf of the landlord – what a gentleman he is.

“Our company specializes in construction insurance and is based across the UK with our headquarters in Warrington. After a record year last year, it was time for us to build a Yorkshire team – and our magnificent new offices are the result. ”

City Partnership’s Andrew Lecomber-Peace added, “As our registrar services business has grown over the past two years, we’ve decided to open an office down here to complement our Edinburgh office.

“The obvious choice was to look around, so we considered offices in West Yorkshire like Huddersfield and Wakefield. Park Valley has many positive qualities that made the decision to settle here an easy one.

“It’s private and set back from the main drag; the view is very picturesque and “Yorkshire”; IT facilities and internet are first class; there is free parking for office staff and plenty of space for visitors; and the whole complex is safe.

“We were initially based in neighboring Park Valley House, but after taking on agent services due to the success of the registrar side of the business, we had to move to a larger office to accommodate more staff.

“The Mending Rooms were the obvious choice for our new office and our customers were more than impressed with the building and its facilities.”

Simon Alder of data and analytics firm Ash Projects said, “We had outgrown our existing offices in nearby Farnley Tyas and were looking for a large space where the team could easily work together.

“As soon as we visited the Mending Rooms, we were thrilled and there was no other option for us.

“The fantastic quality of the converted building, the amazing space with great scenery, plenty of on-site parking and the security service outside of opening hours were a big draw, and the icing on the cake was the availability of an additional unit for the relocation of our workshop too – so that everyone our UK operations can be in a single location.

“Park Valley Mills is a place we’d proud to share with our team and customers – a real gem. In addition, the landlords were great who worked with us to enable us to move to the new premises, always on hand to answer any questions. Nothing is too much to ask. “

Mr. Duckett added, “We are immensely proud of what has been achieved at Park Valley Business Park and Park Valley House, where more than 150 sustainable jobs have been created. A further 80 people are now employed in the mending rooms.

“We managed to transform a derelict industrial site into a modern business park with first-class commercial space and a beautiful listed building in Park Valley

A house. Now the Mending Rooms is the next jewel in our crown.

“We built speculatively in a challenging commercial real estate market and put our trust in the Huddersfield area, and that trust has been rewarded in a location that has a proud history and a great future.”

The adjacent Park Valley Business Park with 18 light industry units is now fully let, although only one 825 m² office in the Park Valley House in the development can be rented out.

The main contractors for the repair rooms were JM Building Yorkshire.

The development has the full support of the Kirklees Council.
