Puma supports Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 against racism

Sports company puma proudly supports his partner's statement Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team against racism and all forms of discrimination by driving the entire 2020 F1 season in black Puma racing gear. Both brands are joining forces to combat racism and discrimination in all forms.

Just four days after the PUMA-sponsored Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team released the all-black base coat of the W11 racing car, the racing team unveiled its black Puma racing gear. The change of color to black shows his partner's commitment to the principles and practices of diversity and inclusion.

“We have supported the initiative of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team from the start. Puma is pleased that we were able to meet their request for black racing equipment right at the start of the season, ”explains James Clark, Head of Sports Marketing Motorsport & Operations at Puma.

The black racing gear includes the racing suit, underwear, balaclava and gloves. The latter shows on the right side #reform what Puma's statement against racism and criminal justice is. The Speedcat Pro racing shoe by Lewis is black with purple logo stripes, while the black racing boots by Valtteri Bottas have white logo stripes.

In its more than 70-year history, Puma has firmly believed in equality and the power of sport to unite people and to promote culture in a positive way. Puma has always teamed up with athletes and ambassadors who have campaigned for universal equality.

“We are always looking forward to the opportunity to support one of our partners and ambassadors in their quest for universal equality. We launched our REFORM platform in 2018 with the sole aim of translating intentions into measures in the fight for equality, respect and fairness. This has allowed us to work with great athletes like Lewis Hamilton to fight racism in their own sports culture, ”said Adam Petrick, Global Director Brand Marketing Puma.

“So far we have focused our efforts in Europe on combating racism in sport, with a particular focus on football. In the United States, we focused on racial inequality by reforming the criminal justice system. On a global basis, we have supported organizations that work against gender prejudice and LGBTQ discrimination. "

Lewis Hamilton and his team-mate Valtteri Bottas are the focus of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team's commitment to combating racism and discrimination.

Lewis said: "It is so important that we use this moment and use it to educate ourselves whether you are an individual, a brand or a company to make really significant changes when it comes to ensuring equality and inclusiveness . " I have personally experienced racism in my life and have seen my family and friends experience racism, and I speak from the heart when I call for change. "

Valtteri Bottas added: “It is important that we agree and show our commitment to change. Racism and discrimination have no place in our sport or in our society. "

Puma will only give up its REFORM campaigns once racism and discrimination have been abolished.
