Port Adelaide marketing boss to lead News Corp in SA

A manager of Port Adelaide Football Club has been named Managing Director of News Corp for South Australia, while a new editor has been named for the Saturday Advertiser and the Sunday Mail.

Melissa Librandi (inset) has been named Chief Executive Officer of News Corp for South Australia.

Melissa Librandi, Port Adelaide General Manager Marketing and Growth, will replace News Corp SA’s longtime CEO, Ish Davies, early next year.

Davies announced his retirement in October after 36 years with the company.

Librandi’s appointment as senior executive at News Corp in Adelaide comes after nearly 20 years in the media, travel and tourism sectors.

Prior to joining Port Adelaide in March 2020, she was with the South Australian Tourism Commission for nearly a decade, including six years as Head of Marketing (Domestic), where she was a member of the award-winning Barossa. To be consumed “tourism campaign.

Librandi said she looks forward to bringing “energy and a digital focus” into News Corp’s commercial growth strategy.

“I am a firm believer in the power of personalization and storytelling in branding, and there is an opportunity to use our state-of-the-art digital suite to connect with new audiences – we have so many incredible resources and insights.” , she said .

Paul Ashenden has since been promoted to weekend editor for The Advertiser on Saturday and The Sunday Mail.

Ashenden, who is currently the editor of SA Weekend, joined The Advertiser in 2008 as an editor and has held a number of senior positions at the Legal Notice, including Assistant Editor, Messenger Editor-in-Chief and Forward Planning Editor for News Corp Adelaide.

His promotion comes after current weekend editor Jessica Leo-Kelton moves to a senior position at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet as communications director.

It is the latest in a series of changes to the top of News Corp in Adelaide this year, with Advertiser Editor Matt Deighton stepping down in July and being replaced by Deputy Daily Telegraph Editor Gemma Jones.
