P&G announces an acceleration of its #ChooseEqual engagement

P&G works with Promundo, UN Women, WEConnect International, Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society and others to enable gender equality in the home, workplace and society

Procter & Gamble #ChooseEqual continues with new measures to accelerate advances toward gender equality at home, in the workplace and in society. As part of this expansion of its work, P&G is committed to spending $ 10 billion (£ 7.2 billion) on women-run and women-run businesses by 2025.

P&G has worked for decades to drive the economic empowerment of women across its global value chain, and the latest announcement is the next step in that journey. The company’s goal is to grow investments with these women-run businesses over time to 10 percent of P & G’s purchasing volume – ten times the industry average

To drive meaningful action on a large scale, P&G works with multiple organizations to accelerate progress and drive change, including UN Women, WEConnect International, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society, and more.

Together with its global, regional and local partners, P&G supports the skills development of women entrepreneurs; Further development of the necessary instruments, definitions and infrastructure; and encouraging business and industry collaboration to support and advance these efforts.

“At P&G, our focus on gender equality is fundamental and built into our business,” said Carolyn Tastad, Group President – North America and Executive Sponsor – Gender Equality. “We cannot allow the challenges of the past year to set back gender equality. Instead, we need to move forward to invest and choose actively. These commitments will have a significant impact in advancing gender equality around the world. “

P&G has worked for years to change ingrained gender biases that often exacerbate many of the biggest barriers to women’s progression – and that includes changing attitudes towards the roles of men and boys at home. As part of this effort, the company and its brands are addressing the “housework gap,” the disproportionate amount of unpaid care and housework performed by women in most homes.

P&G also announces a three-year partnership with Promundo, a world leader in promoting gender equality and preventing violence by involving men and boys in partnerships with women, girls and individuals of all gender identities. The company and its brands will use their expertise and significant voice in advertising and media to change the narrative surrounding male care and housework.

In partnership with Promundo and in collaboration with others, P&G will also support and support working families through gender-based policies and programs that enable all genders to play an equal role at home while enjoying a full and rewarding career.

Last year, the company introduced a minimum worldwide standard for paid parental leave so that all parents in the 70+ countries P&G operates in can share the joy of bringing a new child into their home.

In addition, in the run-up to this year’s Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, the company and its brands will highlight the stories, experiences and inspiring accomplishments of a diverse and intersectional collection of female athletes through the new corporate and branding campaigns, including P & G’s “Your Goodness is your.” Greatness ”film and“ Good is Gold ”series, the Always“ #KeepHerPlaying ”and“ Fuel Her Future ”campaigns and the upcoming ones secret deodorant “Just #WatchMe” initiative.

P&G, Always / whisper, and Secret are committed to the accurate representation of women and girls in sport and will support organizations such as Sported UK, Women in Sports Foundation, YMCA and others that provide access to sports programs for girls around the world. P&G and its brands will continue to advocate the accurate representation of women athletes – while raising their voices and highlighting the causes they advocate – on and off the field.
