Funding of as much as £9,000 to assist small companies commerce globally

York and North Yorkshire SMBs looking to expand into new international markets can now apply for up to £ 9,000 in funding from the Department of International Trade’s (DIT) new Internationalization Fund.

“/>The fund is designed to help SMEs looking to grow internationally and can be used to help: market research, IP consulting, translation services, international social media / SEO, trade shows, independent market visits, consulting and other international commercial services.
The fund is available to small and medium-sized companies based in York and North Yorkshire with fewer than 250 employees (no more than 25% of the company owned by a company that is not an SME) and a project that is deemed capable of internationalization.
Commenting on the Business Impact of the Internationalization Fund, Mark Robson, Head of the UK Regions in Yorkshire and Humber, said: “The Department of International Trade helps many businesses of all sizes in York and North Yorkshire find new businesses and enter markets using its Network of international trade advisors and other support such as training through the Export Academy, events and missions and our teams around the world. We are committed to helping Yorkshire and Humber businesses take advantage of the new opportunities created by the trade deals the government is negotiating around the world. ‘
International trade has always been a major engine of economic growth both nationally and in the Yorkshire and Humber region. International trade creates wealth and jobs, but it has many other benefits as companies trading overseas tend to be more innovative and resilient to shocks such as those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The internationalization fund has thus become available at a critical point in time for SMEs. “

Funding gives them access to the expert support and advice they need to succeed in markets they may be unfamiliar with. Funding will be open to business applications until the end of 2022. Companies must complete an export action plan in order to access funding. This is organized with an international trade advisor who will advise and guide you through the process.
