Fb and IMAA launch ‘college’ to beat digital advertising and marketing abilities hole

Facebook and IMAA launch 'university' to overcome digital marketing skills gap

A Facebook-supported training course was launched with the Independent Media Agencies of Australia (IMAA) to close a qualification gap created by COVID bans.

Under the name Facebook and IMAA University, it will offer digital marketing and leadership training for “rising stars” from independent agencies.

Facebook and the IMAA announced that they would equip the participants with “very sought-after” skills. Special training courses are offered on Facebook’s marketing tools.

IMAA executive director Sam Buchanan said the collaboration will provide much-needed training in an environment where employees have been denied the opportunity to learn face-to-face from colleagues.

“Australia’s ongoing state lockdowns and working from home have created many challenges and skill gaps in our industry as people cannot meet and learn in office environments,” he said. “That means that education has never been more important to the independent agency sector.

“The primary focus of IMAA is to ensure that our member organizations have access to important educational initiatives for their employees and keep them updated on what this partnership will achieve.”

The rollout comes a week after the IMAA launched a campaign to promote the benefits of independent agencies with brands and marketers.

Earlier this week, the 18-month-old industry association also signed a number of group membership agreements that will save money on industry reporting, training and media tools.

Regarding the university initiative, Harry Lowes, head of independent agencies at Facebook ANZ, said it will bring the two organizations closer together.

“Over 18 months with IMAA we have enjoyed building an even stronger two-way relationship with Australia’s independent agency industry and learning what Facebook can do to support an ever-changing market,” he said. “With this training program, we hope to respond directly to feedback from the industry and empower them with the knowledge and skills of Facebook to support their company, their teams and their customers.”

Attendees who are required to work for an IMAA member will receive Facebook Blueprint Training, an online program that covers a range of digital marketing skills including media buying, planning, strategy, and creativity.

You will be able to earn the Facebook Blueprint certification, which recognizes advanced knowledge in various aspects of digital marketing using Facebook products.
