Ecus acquires heritage and archeology consulting firm

The environmental consultancy Ecus has gained a specialist in cultural heritage and archeology.

Northern Archaeological Associates (NAA), founded in 1990 and based in Barnard Castle, provides services such as project design, historic preservation, geophysics, landscape surveys, excavations, re-excavations and public relations.

The NAA’s key assignments include archeology services on A1 improvement work, in the water sector for Northumbrian Water and Morrison Utility Services, and in development with Northumbria Healthcare.

They are expected to complement ECUS ‘current portfolio of road, rail and pipeline infrastructure projects, national frameworks and developments in the public and private sectors.

Andrew Gunning, Managing Director of Ecus, headquartered in Sheffield, said: “This is a significant and exciting development for Ecus and our customers. We look forward to welcoming NAA employees to Ecus. Their expertise will make the spectrum and capacity improve the services we offer. ” NAA’s market reputation was a particular draw for us and went well with our focus on service quality. “

Paul White, Regional Director and Heritage Lead at Ecus added: “The acquisition complements the range of services already offered by Ecus, but these are reinforced by NAA’s expertise and experience, which means we are providing our customers with a more complete service and great Integrate projects better and carry them out more efficiently. “

Mary Fraser, NAA Managing Director, said, “It was important to find the right home for NAA, where the business and people that have built over the past 31 years can continue to thrive. I think we found that in Ecus and we look forward to the next part of our journey. “

Ecus was advised by Claire Davies from Lava Advisory Partners and Andy Francey and Megan Atack from Freeths LLP. NAA was advised by Oliver Williams from MHA Tait Walker Corporate Finance.
