Oil Major Total has awarded risk management company DNV GL a three year contract to provide a range of services to its UK North Sea portfolio.

DNV GL will offer services such as verification, classification and labeling, risk advice and awareness-raising for serious accident hazards.

The company said it had developed a strong relationship with Total following the acquisition of Maersk Oil’s manufacturing facilities in 2018 by the Paris-based operator.

DNV GL was the acting security services provider for these assets, which include the Culzean and Gryphon facilities.

Total also operates the Shetland gas facility, which serves the greater Laggan area west of Shetland, the Elgin-Franklin area and the Alwyn platform.

Hari Vamadevan, Regional Director for the UK and Ireland at DNV GL, said: “As one of the largest operators in the UK, this award from Total is a key win for DNV GL and a good start to the year.

“At a crucial time for the oil and gas industry, our work with Total will focus on safety, innovation and efficiency.

“We look forward to aligning with Total as the company continues its significant investment in the pursuit of net zero.”

Jack Downie, Head of Development and Innovation, DNV GL UK and Ireland added, “With this contract, Total will use a wide range of DNV GL services to improve its business and support its low carbon goals.

“During our conversations with the Total team, we see forward-looking motivation and a desire to develop the value we add to their business while at the same time further strengthening the bond between our organizations.”
