The upcoming Hollywood blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home will be a box-office hit after breaking the UK presale record, which sells three times as fast as that of the James Bond film No Time to Die.

Odeon, the largest operator in the UK and Ireland with more than 120 theaters, said it sold over 200,000 tickets for the film in the first seven days since it was released.

The ticket sales rate for the film, in which British actor Tom Holland stars as Peter Parker, broke the pre-sale record for Avengers: Endgame from 2019. Odeon also said Spider-Man’s pre-sale rate was three times higher in its first seven days than Daniel Craig’s highly anticipated and final film as James Bond.

“As the festive season begins, we’re really excited about the pre-sale numbers for Spider-Man: No Way Home,” said Carol Welch, Managing Director of Odeon Cinemas UK and Ireland. “It shows that the guests love to be back in the cinemas and are enthusiastic about the magic that our cinema experience on the big screen brings with it.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home is well on its way to becoming one of the greatest films since the pandemic broke out. AMC, the world’s largest cinema operator and owner of Odeon, said it generated the second busiest day of ticket sales of all time in the US after Avengers: Endgame.

U.S. analysts estimate that the opening weekend at the North American box office is likely to gross at least $ 150 million, which, if it does, will be the first film since the 2019 pre-pandemic.

To date, the two top-grossing films of the year are both Chinese – The Battle at Lake Changjin ($ 896 million and F9: The Quick Saga ($ 726 million).
