Warc Rankings launched: See the APAC winners | Advertising

Asia Pacific Agencies and Campaigns have had significant presence – and advances – in the Warc 2021 Rankings released today (November 30). The listing, which brings together the world’s most awarded campaigns and companies for creativity, effectiveness and media excellence, has made agencies and brands from APAC, especially from China, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, shine.
According to a list of the top three in each category made available to the media (see here for the full leaderboard, available to Warc members), some outstanding APAC performers were among the “Naming The Invisible By Digital Birth Registration” campaigns (for Telenor by Ogilvy Islamabad), ‘I’m Drinking It For You’ (for DB Export by Colenso BBDO Auckland / Carat Auckland / Red Star Auckland) and ‘Michelin Impossible’ (for KFC by Ogilvy Sydney).
Naming the invisible through digital birth registration
In terms of agency performance in APAC, Mindshare Shanghai rose to the top spot in the Media 100, well behind the second-placed MediaCom Connections Tel Aviv in terms of points. But maybe the real story was Mindshare Ho Chi Minh City, which shot up from 15th to third place.
In the actual 100, it was agencies from ANZ who had the say, with Colenso BBDO Auckland and BMF Sydney being the newcomers in second and third place in the list of creative agencies. Affinity Sydney ranked second on the list of digital / specialty agencies and Carat Auckland ranked third among media agencies.
In the Creative 100 – where David Miami Ogilvy shot from 23rd to first – APAC drew a gap. Two Burger King campaigns were the stars of the show.
These annual rankings are compiled by Warc by combining the winning lists from the industry’s major global and regional awards – as determined by the Warc Rankings Advisory Board and a global industry survey – and using a proprietary three-tier method.
Due to the pandemic, the publication of the full Warc ranking for 2021 has been postponed from the first quarter to now. The 2022 edition will return to a Q1 release.
