When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020, almost every industry suffered the adverse effects of its effects.
Shops were closed, the hotel business went dark, and there was a strong sense of fear. As the negative effects of the pandemic spread across the world, one sector experienced a different type of metamorphosis. Digital marketing is an industry that exists in the prism of the digital world. Soon consumers were flocking to the internet and print and in-store advertising became obsolete and digital marketing became indispensable.
Francis Volpe is a veteran digital marketer who co-founded the New York-based digital marketing agency Y Not You Media. Here he explains the impact of COVID-19 on the digital marketing industry.
Volpe announces that the digital marketing industry has just had one of the most turbulent years of its existence. It was a year in which the importance of the industry was brought to the fore. According to Volpe, the immediate impact of the pandemic on the digital marketing industry was the unprecedented demand for digital marketing skills and experience that occurred almost overnight. Volpe expands on this and explains that physical stores whose digital presence only extended to social media sites had to rotate and rearrange their stores online in order to survive. There was a great demand for digital marketing. It exists as the lifeline between the isolated customer and the stranded retailer, connecting the supply and demand chain.
Volpe emphasizes that digital marketing agencies, both large and small, have faced the challenge. He adds that the immediate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been a double-edged sword that digital agencies did not have to embark on. Business was booming, but the reason for it was so unprecedented that most agencies were overwhelmed by the demand. During this crucial time, Volpe believes that any agency had a choice of either bending over or rising above the pressure.
Fortunately, the industry has shown extraordinary tenacity and has climbed above the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Volpe responds and says: “The digital marketing industry has not only withstood the pandemic, but has also become a champion for small businesses and the economy as a whole.”
Francis Volpe co-founded ‘Y Not You Media’ in 2018. He said he was inspired to pursue a business when he saw the exponential growth of the digital marketing industry. After starting the agency, Volpe set out to develop unique content and strategies with his team. These strategies are designed to individualize any business online.
About the importance of digital marketing, Volpe says: “Our lives today exist online to a very large extent. For this reason alone, the digital world is a world in which every company should create a space. ”
No industry has been spared the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, some industries managed to hold out through the chaos they created and emerge stronger than before.
