Disneyland Paris launches its photo voltaic cover power plant mission in Europe

Disneyland Paris starts its solar system project in Europe

Disneyland Paris' solar system was developed in collaboration with Urbasolar and will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 750 tons of CO2 per year

On World Energy Day Disneyland Paris had recently announced the gradual development of one of the largest solar roof systems in Europe to further promote the company's environmental awareness.

The solar system is developed in cooperation with Urbasolar and will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 750 tons of CO2 per year. It will be technically enough to provide renewable clean energy to power 17% of the resort – the equivalent of a small town's annual energy consumption.

This project is another step in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and part of a global effort to meet our long-term goals of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions and zero waste while conserving water resources and reducing wildlife to reverse.

The solar system in Disneyland Paris started construction in July and is due to be completed in 2023. Our first milestone for the first phase in spring 2021. In total, it will comprise 17 hectares of solar roofs with 67,500 solar modules for a production of 31 gigawatt hours per year.

Not only will the new plant protect guests from sunlight, rain and snow, but it will also have a touch of Disney magic upon completion of the project – it will illuminate a section in the shape of a Mickey Mouse head at night that will be visible from the sky .

Geothermal energy already supplies the Disneyland Paris parks and the Disneyland Hotel as a result of an innovative facility in Villages Nature Paris. It uses naturally occurring underground heat and steam to meet the heating needs for hot water and the heating system of the facilities.
