Vans honours the late artist Daniel Johnston in newest assortment

Vans will donate part of the proceeds from this collection to a mental health organization
Vans, A manufacturer of skateboarding shoes and related clothing has partnered with the Austin, Texas-based company Do not comply Skate shop for a second collection in honor of the late artist and musician Daniel Johnston. After an opening capsule released in 2019, this second collection consists of new iterations about Old Skool, Authentic, and Slip-On, all of which are treated in Johnston's distinctive art.
A white and gray palette with orange accents is used for all three silhouettes. The Old Skools and Eras feature Johnston's artwork in a light gray that blends in with the white base they are placed on, while the slip-on enhances the contrast by printing clearly visible black trimmings on its white canvas upper.
Each Vans x No Comply pair uses PopCush insoles for comfort and is brought together by bright orange outsoles with white stars and numbers that mark Johnston's years of birth and death – 61 and 19. Shoes include two T-shirts, a hat, and a shopping bag.
The impetus for the Vans x Hockey collection was a catalog from the early 2000s and a past silhouette, the Authentic High, that caught Andrew's attention. The result is the Authentic High Pro with an UltraCush footbed for superior support and board feel, as well as Duracap technology to reinforce the pads in critical areas with high wear that extend the life of the shoe.
Part of the proceeds from this collection goes directly to the Hi, How Are You Project, an organization that works for mental health.
The Vans x No-Comply x Daniel Johnston collection is now available in select Vans Pro Skate accounts.
