Celebrating Juneteenth | DigitalMarketer

Recipes

This year at DigitalMarketer we decided to mark Juneteenth as the official company holiday to support our black people who support us every day. While we take the time to rest, spend time with our families / loved ones, and learn about the importance of this vacation today, June 19, we wanted to share some valuable resources. We found them both useful and actionable as we set out to better understand and reflect on our country's past.

history

If this is your first time hearing about Juneteenth, it may be because your vacation in Texas started. Despite the 1863 declaration of emancipation, enslaved people in Texas were not released until two years later, on June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived to enforce the order. Today, June 19 is celebrated across the country as the end of slavery conditions in the United States. Of course there is a bigger story in and around this celebration and these resources are a good place to start.
