Warwick-based data consultancy Comma joins the US group Amplifi

Warwick-based professional services firm Comma Group was bought by a US consultancy. The strategy and information management consultancy Amplifi has expanded to Europe with the acquisition.

The pandemic affected all industries, but in particular highlighted the importance of digital transformation for the future of business. Companies now know that effective digital and data transformation strategies are no longer good to have, but are critical to the sustainability and growth of companies. This means that the advisory space that the Comma Group specializes in is growing explosively and is an attractive prospect to buy from Amplifi.

Leigh Wells, co-founder of Comma Group, commented, “Companies must use data to be strategically competitive or they will be left behind. When we become part of Amplifi we can accelerate our global vision and provide a broader range of services to our current and future customers to meet today’s market demands. “

Founded in 2015 by Wells, Sam Gross, Mike Evans and Mike Bonsall, Comma Group aimed to help companies get more value from their data by connecting people, data and technology. Since then, the company has built a solid reputation in multiple industries, working with B2B and direct customer brands in manufacturing, distribution, apparel, retail, health and beauty, food and beverage.

“This is the first step in Amplifi’s growth strategy through acquisitions and forms the basis for our European expansion efforts,” said Corey Mellick, CEO of Amplifi. “By working with the Comma Group, we are one of the largest MDM consulting companies in the world. We look forward to working with Comma’s strong management team, some of the best thought leaders and data experts in the industry. “

Although the terms of the transaction have not yet been announced, Comma will now be a wholly owned subsidiary of Amplifi and will operate under the name Comma, part of Amplifi. The acquisition enables Amplifi and Comma to expand their global reach, strengthen their services, and deliver personal digital transformation to customers around the world. While the news allows Amplifi to expand into Europe for the first time, it also offers Comma a lucrative route into the North American consulting market – the largest in the world.

Commenting on the transaction, Scott Spear, Chairman of Amplifi, said, “The whole process was done virtually and showed how much two companies can achieve when they think big and have vision. It is truly worthwhile to complete this transaction and we are delighted to have Comma under the Amplifi umbrella to create a platform to serve the world’s largest companies and realize the most complex projects. “
